Starting judo can feel intimidating, but it does not have to be. This guide covers everything beginners, kids and adults, need to know before their first class at Dragon Judo Academy.

Classes begin with warm-up and stretching. New students learn ukemi (safe breakfalling) on the mat. Instruction progresses to basic stances, gripping, and simple techniques with partners. All work is supervised by Sensei Javier.
If you decide to continue, you will need a judo gi. We can recommend trusted suppliers. Consistent attendance, even once per week, builds meaningful progress. Contact us with any questions.

Yes. Dragon Judo Academy welcomes students with no martial arts experience. Sensei Javier introduces fundamentals step by step, safe falling, basic movement, and simple techniques, so beginners build confidence from day one.
